Fernwood at Michillinda

Information seems to indicate that “Fernwood” was in business prior to 1883. The property was originally owned and operated by Ebenezer Sprigg.

In 1887, it was reported that E. Sprigg was adding several new cottages at his resort, at the suggestion of a couple of his friends. They felt that the cottages would be filled every summer by people from Grand Rapids.

Additional improvements were made to Fernwood, as was reported in the Whitehall Forum in May 1898.
